Advising the Instituto Gulich, an academic institution under the National University of Córdoba, I did instructional design work and strategic consulting to improve eLearning for various courses hosted on the LMS.

The institute specializes in higher education level courses on spatial and satellite imaging. The applications of the educational portfolio include:

  • Desertification and deforestation
  • Oil spills and flooding
  • Forest and grassland fires
  • Earthquakes and tsunamis
  • Volcanic eruptions
  • Avalanches and landslides.

While we developed the courses from central Argentina, the delivery is 100% virtual to facilitate access from even the most remote locations in the spatially extensive country. A rising number of students from Europe and Latin America also participate in the interactive classes, with autodidact practices and tutor-guided activities going hand in hand to provide a unique learning experience. While the development of further courses is still ongoing, the trend to use open source software and contribute to open educational practices remains a solid part of the institutes educational philosophy.
